Serving Veterans, Their Families &
Their Communities Across Ohio
One county, one post, one poppy at a time — since 1919.
In the Spirit of Service, Not Self, the mission of the American Legion Auxiliary is to support the American Legion and to honor the sacrifice of those who serve by enhancing the lives of our veterans, military and their families, both at home and abroad. For God and Country, we advocate for veterans, educate our citizens, mentor youth and promote patriotism, good citizenship, peace and security.
The Preamble
For God and Country, we associate ourselves together for the following purposes: to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America; to maintain law and order; to foster and perpetuate a one hundred percent Americanism; to preserve the memories and incidents of our associations during all wars.
Join Us in Service at Home
If a relative served during a wartime eligibility period, you may join the Auxiliary. Help turn community service into care for Ohio's veterans and their families.
A Symbol of Remembrance
Since 1921, the Auxiliary has distributed the red poppy — the memorial flower of the American Legion family — in exchange for donations that support our veterans and their families. The poppy is our quiet thread that ties every Ohio county together.
